One of my big vices is that RSS reader I keep open all the time. You see, I do not watch TV that much, and after our TV set started acting up I stopped it altogether. Also, leather (fake or natural) is not the best material for the sofa... but I digress.
Anyway, I was skipping through The Guardian's RSS feed when this article have caught my attention. It's a story about Chinese woman who had stupid name (something like 'Cool baby', for schmuck's sake!), had shitty boyfriend and also was apparently one brick short of a full house.
You see, that woman in question was dumped by her SOB boyfriend, who, as it turned out, was married and was interested only in playing the beast with two backs. Oh, and he got the woman pregnant before dumping her. So she made an obvious choice – she tried to kill herself. Using rat poison. Unsuccessfully. Luckily she had some friends who were able to persuade her to seek help and she did recover from the poisoning and started to put her life together again. Sadly, the combination of rat poison, stress and lots of different drugs she was treated with led to the death of her child four days after birth. What would any society do in this case? Well, I guess that obvious course of action will be to help the woman with return to normal life. After all, she was dumped, nearly died and had to bury her child. Well, that's not what they do in the US.
Instead of trying to help they decided that the best way to deal with the situation would be having the woman in question arrested, put in jail and charged with attempted murder. The people behind this wise decision? Why, of course it's some Christian anti-abortion activists. They definitely have shown these filthy women how to respect "life"! Even if it's not clear why the child have died (there were too much possible causes), they went and done the most "sensible" thing: Blamed the woman whose life was already turned to crap. Because Christianity is a message of love, I guess. Only it's disguised to look like hatred and stupidity.
